2025 B-segment sedans: Vios holds top spot, Accent sees sharp slide
Vios continued to lead the B-segment sedan market in 2025, with City moving up to replace Accent as the segment declined overall in 2025.
By the end of December 2025, total B-segment sedan sales for the year reached 38,939 units, down about 16% from 2024. Of these, Toyota Vios sold 13,424 units, the highest in the segment. Honda City ranked second with 10,899 units, while Hyundai Accent fell to third with 7,088 units. The remaining models were Mazda2 with 5,465 units, Mitsubishi Attrage with 1,740 units and Kia Soluto with 323 units.
Unlike previous years, Vios did not win the 2025 race thanks to a year-end sales surge, but by maintaining high and steady sales for most of the year. From May to December, Vios almost always sold more than 1,000 units a month, with December alone reaching 1,972 units, the highest monthly figure of the year.
In 2025, Vios led in 8 out of 12 months, and the peak year-end months of October, November and December also saw Vios remain in front, showing that Vios was still the preferred choice in the segment as consumers stepped up purchases. Even so, Vios' total sales of 13,424 units were still lower than in 2024, when the sedan sold more than 14,000 units, reflecting shrinking demand across the segment.
Honda City replaced Hyundai Accent as Vios' closest rival in 2025. With 10,899 units sold, City created a clear two-horse race at many points. Honda's sedan showed strong momentum in peak months, especially in the second half of the year when it consistently topped 1,000 units a month, and ended the year with 1,685 units in December. The gap between City and Vios at many points narrowed to just a few hundred units. Compared with 2024, City's sales were nearly flat.
In contrast to its role as Vios' counterweight in 2024, Hyundai Accent saw a clear decline in 2025. With 7,088 units sold, Accent achieved only a little more than half of Vios' sales and trailed City by more than 3,800 units. Compared with 2024, its 2025 sales nearly halved. After staying close early in the year, Accent's sales dropped sharply from mid-year, especially in the third quarter when some months saw only 300-500 units sold. Despite a slight recovery at the end of the year, Accent was no longer able to maintain the neck-and-neck battle for the top spot seen in 2024.
In the lower group, Mazda2 continued to hold a middle position in the segment with 5,465 units sold. Compared with 2024, Mazda2 sales rose slightly, showing that the sedan maintained its own customer base despite the broader market downturn. Mazda's model did not join the sales race with Vios or City but still maintained a steady sales pace, especially in the final months of the year. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Attrage and Kia Soluto were almost out of the race, with full-year sales totaling under 2,000 units, down sharply from the previous year.

Compared with 2024, Vietnam's B-segment sedan market in 2025 showed a clear shift toward Japanese models. Vios still retained its role as a "national car" thanks to broad market presence and solid demand, while City rose to become its direct challenger, and Mazda2, though serving a smaller customer base, posted steady growth. By contrast, Korean sedans such as Accent and Soluto gradually lost their advantage.
