Mitsubishi Xpander all but assured of being the segment's best-seller in 2025

Amid the market's broader growth momentum, sales of most B-segment MPVs improved in October from the previous month. Mitsubishi Xpander continued to dominate its rivals with sales of 2,644 units, accounting for more than half of the segment's total sales.

Other than Xpander, no model in the segment reached the 1,000-unit mark in October. Toyota Veloz came closest with 817 units sold.

Xpander's gap over the Toyota pair, Veloz and Avanza, continued to widen. After 10 months, the Mitsubishi model had outsold its two Japanese rivals by nearly 8,000 units. With monthly sales averages still far below Xpander's, the chances of a comeback for the two Toyota models are almost nonexistent with two months left in 2025.

If Xpander holds on to the segment sales crown in 2025, Mitsubishi will mark its seventh consecutive year as the best-selling brand in the B-segment multi-purpose vehicle group. Toyota, meanwhile, would post the same number of runner-up finishes. Despite staying in front, however, Xpander's sales were virtually flat compared with the same period in 2025.

The most notable change in the MPV segment's market-share picture is the rise of Honda BR-V. From being among the slowest-selling models, the Honda vehicle climbed to third place in sales after 10 months.

Compared with the same period last year, BR-V sales grew 17%, while the segment as a whole edged down 2%. Besides the Honda model, Suzuki XL7 was the only other name to post a sales increase (21%).

The two Korean models, Kia Carens and Hyundai Stargazer, failed to make a breakthrough given the overwhelming influence of their Japanese rivals. Carens sold more than 3,100 units, running close to Honda BR-V. Stargazer, meanwhile, ranked next to last in the segment sales standings.
